Our
mission

We believe in the power of teamwork.
We want to give people suffering from retinoblastoma a voice and we are committed to representing their interests.
Our goal is to provide them with the best possible medical and psychosocial care.
We are independent of economic and political interests, as we are financed exclusively by donations.

“We want to bring people together, educate and inform about RB and support research – so that our children can grow up happy and healthy.”

Together for the children

Responsibility for children and their relatives is at the heart of KAKS’ work.
KAKS aims to improve the early detection of eye cancer in children, known as retinoblastoma (RB), a type of cancer that only occurs in children.
KAKS has also set itself the task of raising awareness among the general public and healthcare professionals and managed to establish nationwide eye screening for children as part of early childhood examinations (yellow U-Heft) in Germany in 2016.

Our values

Our goal is to optimize the early detection and treatment of retinoblastoma worldwide and make it accessible to all patients.
We want to support RB survivors and families whose children are affected by retinoblastoma, share, compile and pass on knowledge and experience – so that everyone can benefit.

Courage

We bring people together through great commitment and mutual support.

Knowledge

We are improving early detection and supporting international research projects with molecular biological therapies.

Responsibility

We sensitize, raise public awareness and represent the interests of affected children, their families and friends.

“We work together with the German Childhood Cancer Foundation, various international RB organizations, advocate for rare diseases at a European level and cooperate with renowned specialists, researchers and clinics.”

Our vision

In contrast to other cancers, there is hardly any research into molecular biological therapies for retinoblastoma.
The Children’s Eye Cancer Foundation supports the development and funding of many retinoblastoma research projects in cooperation with university hospitals throughout Europe.
No cure without research.
