Encourager Maximilian, welcome to the team!

Maximilan is 23 – he came to us through our encourager Marcel.
At the age of 2.5, he was diagnosed with bilateral retinoblastoma.
The doctors in Essen fought for his eyesight for almost four years – but lost the battle.
Maximilian has been blind since he was 6 years old.
“But I remember colors, shapes, the faces of my mother and father. I know what red, blue, yellow and green are – and remembering to see helps me enormously in my current everyday life!” says the likeable young man, who comes from near Stuttgart.
“I want to serve as an example and show that you can master your life even if you go blind.”
Maximilian has achieved great things: he did really well at a regular grammar school – with the support of his parents and teachers, as well as his classmates, who found it exciting and fascinating to see how a blind person can cope with everyday school life.
Maximilian then studied Public Management in Ludwigsburg and now works in senior administration at the Schwäbisch-Hall District Office – with a screen reader, Braille display and everything that goes with it.
He is grateful that there are now so many good aids that enable him to work independently and with nice colleagues.
Through KAKS, Maximilian has contact with other retinoblastoma sufferers for the very first time.
“I’m already a little excited!”
Welcome, Maximilian!
We are delighted that you are here.
