My name is Monique and I was born in Zurich, Switzerland in 1977.
In 1979, shortly before my 2nd birthday, a unilateral RB was discovered on my right eye by an optician.
My parents realized that something was wrong.
One of my siblings had an appointment there, so they asked the optician to have a look.
He immediately sent us to hospital.
That almost certainly saved my life.
At first I wasn’t happy with myself at all because of my face and my artificial eye.
When I met my current husband 27 years ago, I gained self-confidence because he accepts me for who I am.
And about 10 years ago I discovered the vintage style for myself and today I love myself the way I am.
I walk around like this every day.
This style gave rise to a project close to my heart.
Every 2 years I make a pin-up calendar under my artist name Miss Southern Belle for the benefit of Childhood Cancer Switzerland.

1. My motto in life is Never give up.
   Giving up is not an option.
2. I was very happy when I found Kaks.
   Together we are even stronger.
3. I am very quick-witted.
   99.9 % of the time, I get something back by return of post.
4. My look means everything to me and is part of my life.
   I have learned to love myself through my look.
   And I like myself, which wasn’t the case before.
5. My husband is the love of my life.
   The first time I saw him, I knew he was the one.
   He is the best thing that has happened to me in my life.
6. I would like to continue to support children with cancer in the future.
