KAKS is committed to raising awareness among young parents and healthcare professionals about the early warning signs of eye cancer and is striving for nationwide eye screening for children in Germany.
Since its foundation, KAKS has initiated, financed, supported and completed various retinoblastoma research projects – each in search of new therapies, diagnostic methods or aftercare.
Every year, between 7,000 and 8,000 children worldwide are newly diagnosed with retinoblastoma.
Too many of them die because care and early detection are poor.
