Franziska was diagnosed with retinoblastoma when she was one year old: “I lost my left eye as a result. I’ve been living with just one eye for 28 years now and get on very well with it. I can drive, do sports, go to the movies and hardly notice any limitations. Since I received an implant as a so-called “eyeball replacement” in 2009 and have been wearing a plastic eye ever since, hardly anyone notices that I have a prosthesis. I am open to everything, approach people and enjoy my job as a registrar. I would love to relieve parents and children of their fears and worries about the future and share their experiences with other people affected.”
