Martin Park is 34 years old and was diagnosed with bilateral retinoblastoma at the age of 1.
Too late, as it turned out: he lost his sight.
His mother “never wrapped him in absorbent cotton”, but demanded as much as a sighted child.
And so the blind child became an extraordinary adult.
An extremely cheerful person for whom his illness does not seem to set any limits.

Martin Park is happily married, has two children, a boy and a girl, and: he is a teacher for sighted children at a grammar school, teaches geography and French, and his pupils particularly love his detailed descriptions of nature.

No other teacher can explain the smell of weathered granite or the wind in the Pyrenees more vividly than he can, and the descriptions of his trip to the Himalayas couldn’t be more captivating.
And they love the fact “that he’s not someone who just stands in front of the class and talks, but that you really have to communicate and are somehow on the same level.”
